An Investor's Guide to Recognizing & Addressing Common Environmental Concerns
Presentation by Greg Davis and Keith Gerber

Bio for Greg Davis - Greg has 28+ years of experience in environmental consulting and remediation services; a large portion of which relates to residential oil tanks. Many of you may also recognize him as “The Oil Tank Guy” who was always at his business affiliate table at the SJREIA main meetings for years to answer questions and provide professional insight and advice from his years of experience as both an environmental professional and as a real estate investor. He has also been a regular contributor and presenter at various SJREIA subgroups as well as a featured speaker and expert at educational classes held for home inspectors and Realtors® on oil tanks and other environmental liabilities that are commonly encountered and may delay or adversely impact the outcome of real estate property transactions.
His passion for real estate and real estate investment has always been strong, which is really no surprise since his family has been involved in real estate for over 90 years. Following that passion, he obtained his real estate license in late 2003 and subsequently bought his first rental property in 2004. He also ran a wholesaling business for a period and enjoys doing fix & flip rehab projects. While he decided to leave the environmental business in 2020 to pursue real estate as a full-time venture, he still has close ties to his former company and is still passionate about helping his fellow investors identify, understand and navigate environmental issues that could easily be the difference between making money or losing a ton of money on an investment deal.

Bio for Keith Gerber - Keith is the President and driving force behind Active Environmental Technologies, Inc. After graduating with a degree in environmental studies & geography, he began his 24 year long career working for various civil engineering & environmental consulting firms, during which time he learned all the finer details of civil engineering and gained practical experience in construction oversight. Recognizing his passion for the environmental side of the business early on and always seeking growth and new challenges, Keith shifted into environmental consulting and eventually to the services side of the industry to expand his knowledge in remediation, waste disposal, indoor air quality and was also instrumental in launching and growing Active’s drilling services division.
In 2019, Keith became part of the leadership team at Active Environmental Technologies, Inc. and earned the title of President. After successfully growing the company through the pandemic, he and two of his partners acquired the firm in 2021 and have continued to grow and expand the company with new lines of service with an emphasis on Teamwork, Positivity, Timeliness of Deliverables, and Efficiency. Keith’s energy and passion for the business clearly comes through in everything he does, and he enjoys helping his clients find creative cost-effective solutions to help resolve their environmental issues in a timely manner.
Some of the professional licenses and industry certifications he currently holds are as a New Jersey Licensed Environmental Well Driller, Subsurface Evaluator and UST Closure as well as being OSHA 40 Certified for Hazardous Waste Operations, Confined Space Entry and ASTM Phase I Environmental Site Assessments.
