Tax update: What’s new for ’22
This directly affects investors!! Presenter Jim Kennedy, CPA, MSA, CGMA will provide a tax update and highlight what investors should know for the coming season:
Recent tax court cases impacting investors on: The McNulty case (SDIRA that cost McNulty over $200K), the Sezona case (are they really real estate professionals?) the Sherwin case (was it really a business expense?) and the Izen case (disallowed charitable deduction for vehicle donation)
Energy tax credits – higher thresholds and more inclusion. When? Also subject to some exclusions (The IRS giveth and the IRS taketh away)
Depreciation update: Good time to accelerate depreciation with home supply cost increases.
Jim (and his wife) are real estate investors and veteran landlords who have owned over $2 million of real estate in NJ and Texas during their investing career. Jim is an 18 year member of SJREIA, a former Board member, a licensed CPA, former IRS Tax Examiner and college tax instructor, and last month completed his Master’s degree in Accounting.
